Poetry – In the backlight

Your smile of I don’t care
And now, in the backlight,
The memory of your haughty stance
Is but reminding
Of my resistance to its fading
No eyes, no face, not really
Although the thought of you
Appears to brighten your not anymore

Placed on your hip
Your fingers wave at me
Defying the need
Of crutches your pride despised
Their lambent gesturing
As if waving away
The fight you took up
And were eventually to lose
