Hopping amputees

Enjoying the beauty of hopping could well be called controversial. Without crutches, the loss of a leg becomes manifest within its principal functionality, making the unsupported one-legged pendant of walking an unvarnished exhibition of the loss of function the amputation caused.
It’s however just as much an exhibition of the potential to adapt and cope of a leg amputee, a proof of having become differently abled rather than being disabled. Anyone who ever gave it a try to go on one leg for a longer period of time will be swift to admit it’s not at all easy to do. Leg amputees do it 24/7, and many of them with an agility and elegance that justifies the term beautiful for anyone who admires the new ability rather than the limitation as such.
